Beginning in fall 2025, students enrolled in the biology program at St. Joseph's University, New York who meet certain criteria will be eligible for enrollment in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS).
Once admitted to ACPHS, students become ACPHS students for the remainder of the program. Upon completion of the program and degree requirements, students will receive a B.A. in Biology from SJNY and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from ACPHS.
The program is designed to be completed in seven years.
PharmD programs prepare individuals for careers as community, clinical or hospital pharmacists. Pharmacists not only prepare and dispense medication, but can also be involved in more direct patient care. There are also more specialized roles in this field, such as veterinary pharmacist or infusion pharmacist. Career options for PharmD also include roles within the the pharmaceutical industry.
Dual-Degree: Students will receive a B.A. in Biology from SJNY and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from ACPHS in a program that can be completed in 7 years.
Career Opportunities: A PharmD prepares students for a variety of careers as pharmacists in a variety of settings. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for pharmacists is $136,030 and employment opportunities are projected to grow five percent between 2023-2033. Job prospects are available in the pharmaceutical industry in sales, marketing and research and development.

A PharmD prepares students for a variety of careers as community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, hospital pharmacists, pharmaceutical industry pharmacists, veterinary pharmacists, as well as many others.
