Doctor of Pharmacy Partnership with Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Beginning in fall 2025, students enrolled in the biology program at St. Joseph's University, New York who meet certain criteria will be eligible for enrollment in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS).

Once admitted to ACPHS, students become ACPHS students for the remainder of the program. Upon completion of the program and degree requirements, students will receive a B.A. in Biology from SJNY and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from ACPHS.

The program is designed to be completed in seven years.

PharmD programs prepare individuals for careers as community, clinical or hospital pharmacists. Pharmacists not only prepare and dispense medication, but can also be involved in more direct patient care. There are also more specialized roles in this field, such as veterinary pharmacist or infusion pharmacist. Career options for PharmD also include roles within the the pharmaceutical industry.

What can I do with a PharmD?

  • MAT 205 – Calculus and Analytic Geometry I
  • PHY 150 – General Physics I

Do I have to be a freshman to begin this program?

Students can join the program at the time of admission to St. Joseph’s University, New York or early enough in their study to permit them to complete all degree requirements in a reasonable time.
