Poster Guidelines

Poster Guidelines

Posters will be hung on walls with push pins. Posters cannot exceed 48" x 36" (4' x 3') for horizontal and 36" x 48" (3' x 4') for vertical. Sample posters provided below are formatted to 48" x 36" (4' x 3'). If you would like a smaller size poster, go to the page setup options and change the height and width.

Below are sample posters (created in PowerPoint) just for these types of presentations. One of the easiest approaches to creating your own poster is to simply download one of the posters/templates and edit it (i.e., write, cut, paste, reorganize, etc.) to meet your needs. You can make changes to every single aspect of the poster: the background, colors, font, sizing, organization, etc. And remember that these posters are just models and, because disciplines differ in their methodologies, the information presented on these sample posters may not be relevant to your work. In designing your poster, keep in mind that too much text may overshadow the presentation of your findings. We recommend that you also avoid busy backgrounds that will distract your audience from appreciating your work.

Financial concerns should not be a reason for you not to participate in the conference. If you need assistance defraying the cost of the poster, speak with your faculty supervisor. Expected costs are listed below. For your convenience, we have listed some printers that we have previously used. Also note, last minute submissions to a printer will increase the cost of the poster substantially.
