General Studies (Professional)

Have life’s circumstances impeded the progress toward your degree? Looking to finally finish up? Through a flexible curriculum, St. Joseph’s B.S. in General Studies will help you achieve that goal.

The program, which is geared for adults with nontraditional backgrounds, utilizes personalized advisement to help design a curriculum around student’s strengths, experiences and aspirations. Many adults pursuing a career change take advantage of this degree and several pursue a master’s degree with more detailed coursework in their area of concentration towards a career.

Students pursuing a major in general studies may also elect to earn certificates to better structure their program.

Flexible Scheduling and Credit for Experience

Creating a schedule that fits into your busy life has never been easier. Regardless of your age, work schedule or other commitments, at St. Joseph’s, we offer flexible scheduling options — including evening and online classes — that can fit the busy lifestyle of any student. In fact, St. Joseph's University offers students the chance to participate in the Prior Experiential Learning Assessment (PELA) Program, which gives you the opportunity to apply for credit for the experiential learning you have acquired during your career. Validated learning, not the experience alone, is the basis for awarding up to 27 PELA credits.
