With an online Advanced Certificate or M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from St. Joseph’s University, you'll learn to understand the factors that influence the behavior of people around you.
With a focus on behavior interventions, planning and implementation, ABA students use their advanced certificate and MS degree to teach functional behaviors to individuals at every age level — infancy through adulthood and in business settings.
The St. Joseph's University ABA program was the first of its kind in New York State, and we continue to prepare students for thriving careers in behavior analysis.
The M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis program available at St. Joseph’s University, New York’s Online Campus offers students an enriched background in behavior analytic theory, as well as comprehensive training and supervision in the practice of behavior analytic assessment and intervention for individuals with autism, autism spectrum disorders or related conditions.
With a strong core knowledge base of behavior analytic principles, our students graduate well-equipped to become Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBA) and/or Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA).
As licensed behavior analysts, students have the opportunity to work with individuals who have a medical diagnosis of autism, autism spectrum disorders or related disorders in a variety of public and private settings — including schools, homes, day programs, communities, residential and vocational training settings, businesses and related human service agencies.
The M.S. and Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis Post Graduate programs at St. Joseph's University satisfy the requirements for New York State licensure and the BACB's board certification (i.e., BCBA credential). The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential is recognized nationally. New York State licensure (i.e., NYS LBA) only allows behavior analysts to practice ABA within New York State with anyone who has a medical diagnosis from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM - 5 - TR).
For students living and/or practicing ABA outside New York State, St. Joseph's University, after making all reasonable efforts, cannot determine whether the M.S. and Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis Graduate programs meet licensure requirements in any of the other 49 states, the District of Columbia, or in US territories. The University recommends that students living and/or practicing outside New York investigate whether the NYS LBA is applicable/recognized in the state in which they wish to practice. To review the licensing board guidelines for the state in which you wish to practice, you may use the following link: appliedbehavioranalysisedu.org/state-by-state-guide-to-aba-licensing.
For specific information for each state please view our Online ABA Disclosure for Out of State Students page.

Looking for a career that spans multiple disciplines? ABA-certified individuals work in multiple fields. Employees executing the principles of applied behavior analysis work in schools, hospitals, clinics and homes. Any place where behavioral, natural science and mental health are valued.
The Advanced Certificate in ABA and M.S. in ABA meet the newest academic requirements for licensure as a New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst in accordance with Subpart 79-17 of the New York State Commissioner’s Regulations. License applicants must meet additional requirements as outlined by NYS Education Law Title VIII, Article 167 and Commissioner’s Regulations Subpart 79-17.
The program also meets the academic requirements for eligibility to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) examination.
