ST. JOSEPH’S UNIVERSITY, NEW YORK TO HOST AI IN HEALTH CARE EVENT

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – February 27, 2025 – St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY) will host Raising Health with AI: The Future is Now, featuring Sophy Lu, senior vice president of Northwell Health to discuss the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of it in our daily lives. This event will take place on Thursday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in Tuohy Hall. 

Lu will share her insights and real-world examples of how AI is transforming patient care, streamlining operations and creating new career opportunities. As a top voice in the field, Lu will discuss how AI is shaping the future of health care. 

“St. Joseph’s Brooklyn is thrilled to host Sophy Lu and learn more about her personal experience with AI in health care,” said Phillip Dehne, Ph.D., executive dean for the Brooklyn Campus. “With her extensive expertise in the health care field, she’ll offer insightful knowledge about the future of AI.”

Lu joined Northwell in 2010 and assumed the role of chief applications officer in 2017. There she helped the organization with its long-term digital technology goals before being appointed deputy CIO. Lu was responsible for the effective implementation and maintenance of digital administration systems as applications officer, and has more than 20 years of experience in both health care and global information technology during a crucial time for digital transformation in health care. Prior to Northwell, Lu helped design and build a liquefied natural gas plant in Indonesia, as well as the design of several air separation plants for the industrial gas industry. She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
