BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – May 20, 2026 – St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY) is pleased to recognize two graduating seniors, Michaela Barresi ’26 and Isa-Marie Kreuzinger ’26, for their embodiment of the University’s mission, with the esteemed Donald R. Boomgaarden Leadership in Action Award.
During her time at SJNY, Holtsville resident Michaela Barresi, a nursing major, served as co-program director of the Campus Activities Board (C.A.B.), orientation leader, peer tutor for nursing students and member of the Golden Eagles’ Women’s Soccer Team, all while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. She was also a representative on the student-athlete advisory committee, member of the BSN/Nursing Club, Diversity Union, and the Psi Chi and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies.
An international student from Erfurt, Germany, Isa-Marie Kreuzinger traveled to the United States specifically to attend St. Joseph’s University, New York and majored in both psychology and economics. Kreuzinger served as both president and founder of the Research Club on the Brooklyn Campus, while also serving as president of the Psychology Club and maintaining a 3.99 GPA. During her time at SJNY, she worked as a research assistant in the Brain Resilience to Aging and Infectious Diseases (BRAID) Lab on campus and was awarded a summer research fellowship in 2024. Her extensive research has been presented at SJNY’s Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Annual Psychological Association Conference in New York City.
Named for the University’s current president, the Donald R. Boomgaarden Leadership in Action Award acknowledges individuals who exhibit the ideals of integrity, service and social responsibility that lie at the heart of the University’s mission.
