Dr. Candis Best to Present at Prestigious SXSC Festival

BROOKLYN, N.Y. March 3, 2014 - St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Candis Best, associate professor and associate chair of the Department of Human Services at SJC, is slated to present at the prestigious South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas on March 3 and 7.

As one of the "Future 15 presenters at SXSW, Dr. Best will give a talk entitled, "Closing At-Risk Undergrads on Staying Enrolled. She will also co-facilitate a SXSW Core Conversation entitled, "Digital Divide or Sinkhole: Tech Famine in the US.

"It comes as no surprise that Dr. Best was invited to speak at this years SXSW, said SJCs Executive Dean and Professor of History and Sociology Dr. Richard Greenwald. "St. Josephs has been the beneficiary of her innovative ideas and dedication to student learning for many years, and I am elated that she has this forum to showcase and share her excellence in developing positive student outcomes.

An inspiring thought leader in higher education, Dr. Best has helped hundreds of students and professionals to use their genius minds to leave a legacy through self-leadership and service. In her upcoming book, "Your Genius Mind: Why You Dont Need to Be a College Graduate But You Do Need to Think Like One, she takes the "Growing Genius Minds movement global. Dr. Best currently serves as an associate professor and chairperson for the Departments of Human Services and General Studies at SJCs Brooklyn Campus. She resides in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, N.Y.
