SJNY’s program offers students a valuable opportunity to apply fundamental concepts of criminal justice to analyze crime data, investigate crime settings and evaluate strategies. You will develop analytical and critical thinking skills to become a problem solver in the vast and challenging field of criminal justice.

The program’s flexible design allows for a diverse array of options that include legal studies, forensic psychology, cybersecurity, administration of justice/organization leadership and juvenile justice, among many others. In addition to our unique curriculum, SJNY’s criminal justice department hosts speakers that provide real-world insight, such as special agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, representatives of the U.S. District Courts and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office and exonerees from the Innocence Project.

Experiential Learning: In addition, seniors complete internships in the criminal justice system. SJNY's internship placements include probation departments, police departments, district attorney's offices, drug rehabilitation facilities, women's shelters, youth programs, courts and legal aid offices.
