Math and Computer Science Major
Class of 2019

“The professors are the ones that make the Mathematics and Computer Science department distinct. They always come into class eager to teach and have a passion to help the students succeed and move on to the next challenge. I have been helped by many professors and I am greatly appreciative of their help and the time they took to make sure I was on track with the course material."

A Personal Connection

“I was attracted to the math department because of the courses and the professors. The professors teach with a contagious enthusiasm for math. They are always willing to help students who get stuck in certain topics. The Math Lab is also a great resource. It helped me when I was taking Calculus 2. The staff was very knowledgeable. If you enjoy math, and want to major in math, then you are going to come out of this college loving it more.

“I feel welcomed and comfortable walking around campus and being in my classes. In general, my classmates and professors are friendly and so is the environment.  The professors definitely relieved some tension the first few days of each semester. It helps me take a proactive approach to the class material, assignments, and in-class discussions.

After Graduation

“My plan after graduation is to apply the knowledge I have acquired during my time at SJC and use it for real world problems, projects, and questions that have not been answered yet. I hope to be prepared to tackle on any challenge that I face after college and to continue my learning experience. A government job that uses computer science and math to solve its local and national problems is something that’d interested me."
