BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – June 22, 2026 – St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY) is pleased to announce the University received the Fair Media Council Folio Award for both Digital Magazine of the Year and the Digital Storytelling Award at the 2026 Folio Awards, held on June 11 at the Garden City Hotel.
The annual event gathers leaders from news, media, business and the community to recognize outstanding journalism and media work across news, digital, social and digital platforms, as well as national, New York regional and Long Island hyperlocal news stories that illustrate exceptional and relevant journalism.
“Being recognized by the Fair Media Council for the creative work produced at SJNY is both an honor and a meaningful affirmation of the thoughtfulness, dedication and collaboration that drive our projects,” said Vice President for Marketing and Communications Jessica McAleer Decatur. “I am incredibly proud of our team and deeply grateful for the creative partnerships we have that help bring our ideas to life. Together, we strive to create work that not only informs and engages but also resonates with our audiences in meaningful ways.”
Both the Digital Magazine of the Year and the Digital Storytelling awards both highlight SJNY’s longstanding mission and history, as well as its ongoing partnership with the institution’s founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph — the Digital Storytelling award went to its video, “SJNY: Celebrating the Sisters of St. Joseph’s 375th” and the Digital Magazine went to the Fall 2025 issue, “SJNY Magazine: Honoring the Past. Embracing the Future.”
For more than four decades, the Folio Awards have stood apart as the only recognition that bridges industry standards with public values. The Fair Media Council’s work focuses on media accountability and media literacy to empower individuals, businesses and nonprofits to navigate the modern media landscape effectively while ensuring the public has access to trustworthy, impactful news.
