SJC to Host Third Annual Young Adult Authors Event

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MARCH 27, 2013 Suffolk County public libraries, in conjunction with St. Josephs College (SJC), will host an all-day event providing teenagers the opportunity to connect with their favorite young adult authors and celebrate their love of reading on Saturday, April 27. The third annual "Authors Unlimited will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the John A. Danzi Athletic Center on the Long Island Campus of SJC.

"We look forward to our third annual Authors Unlimited event, and to once again welcome authors and teen readers, said S. Mary Ann Cashin, chair of the Department of Child Study at SJC. "This year, social media outlets are being featured as well. It is now possible to connect with the authors and their work on a blog or on a Twitterfeed, where two of the authors have already made entries about their books.

Several of the award-winning and bestselling young adult authors scheduled to present dynamic workshops throughout the day include, but are not limited to, cartoonist, illustrator and author, George OConnor; Adam Gidwitz, author of In a Glass Grimmly and New York Times bestseller, A Tale Dark and Grimm; "Man of Action member and comic author Joe Kelly; and Natalie Standiford, author of New York Times Notable Childrens Book of 2012, The Secret Tree.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration and book sales begin at 9:30 a.m. in the John A. Danzi Athletic Center. Lunch is available for purchase throughout the day in the Colleges cafeteria.
