SJC to Host Fourth Undergraduate Research Symposium

April 04, 2016

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – APRIL 4, 2014 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that the fourth annual Undergraduate Research Symposium will be held on Saturday, April 23 in the McGann Conference Center at SJC Long Island. The Symposium offers students from all disciplines an opportunity to share and celebrate their scholarly and creative accomplishments with the entire SJC community.

SJC students from all departments will be presenting papers and interacting with faculty, peers and guests during poster session presentations and student art exhibitions. At 10 a.m., Landon Frim, Ph.D., assistant professor in SJC’s Department of Philosophy, will start the day with his lecture, “The Good Life: A Philosopher’s Inquiry.”

“This annual event may be my favorite day of the academic year,” said Dominique Treboux, Ph.D., director of undergraduate research and associate professor of psychology at SJC. “There is a buzz in the room and an energy that is contagious as we experience our students actively engaged in their subject matter, taking ownership of their work and sharing with others. We invite everyone to come be a part of this special day.”

Sponsored by all SJC academic departments, students will present research papers, art exhibitions and posters that were completed as part of an independent study, honors project, research project or other analytical activity.

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is required. For more information, contact Dr. Treboux at 631.687.2685 or [email protected].
