SJC to Host Expert Lecture on Health Care

PATCHOGUE, NY JANUARY 26, 2010 St. Josephs College will host an expert panel discussion on health care, "Careers in Health Care: Today's Needs and Tomorrow's Opportunities, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010, as part of a lecture series on current health care topics. John Sardelis, Dr.P.H., associate chair of health administration and founder of the St. Josephs College Healthcare Center for Outreach, Research and Education (C.O.R.E.) will serve as moderator.

Three expert panelists will join Dr. Sardelis to discuss current and projected trends in the health care profession: Vice President of Human Resources for St. Francis Hospital and Mercy Medical Center, Anthony J. Pellicano; President and CEO of Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council Inc., and Lecturer at St. Josephs College, Kevin W. Dahill and Senior Vice President/Chief Human Resources Officer for North Shore-LIJ Health System, Joseph Cabral. Preceding the discussion, a resume writing and career workshop will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for those interested in entering the health care field or looking to advance or alter their careers.

"With health care being the largest growing private employer on Long Island, it is anticipated that the demand for skilled workers in many areas will increase, said Dr. Sardelis. "Our expert panel will discuss what opportunities exist today and also what they see on the employment horizon.

This event, which is being co-sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations and Health C.O.R.E. at St. Josephs College, is free and open to the public, and will be held in the McGann Conference Center at the Colleges Long Island Campus. A question and answer session will immediately follow the panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. A light cocktail reception will conclude the evening.
