SJC To Host Annual Alumni Achievement Awards

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MAY 8, 2014 The Office of Alumni Relations and the Departments of Health Administration and Human Services at St. Josephs College (SJC) are pleased to announce the second annual Long Island Alumni Achievement Awards in Health Care and Human Services honoring distinguished faculty and alumni. The event will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 6 p.m. in the McGann Conference Center located on SJCs Long Island Campus.

This years honorees are Susan Somerville 90, R.N., M.A., keynote speaker and president of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital; Patricia Boyce 07, director of the Caregiver Center at Westchester Medical Center; Councilwoman Valerie Cartright, J.D., Town of Brookhaven; Barbara Carlstrom, A.N.P.-B.C., assistant professor of nursing at SJC and president of the Suffolk County Nurses Association; William Leonelli, M.S. 12, director of finance at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health and Mary Jean McKeveny 08, R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., director of new programs at the Dominican Sisters Family Health Services.

"The challenges for today's health care professionals have never been greater as they strive to control costs, improve quality and expand access, said John Sardelis, Dr.P.H., M.A.A.A, A.S.A., associate chairperson of health administration and professor at SJC. "Many of our students and faculty are successfully addressing these difficult problems and have achieved personal recognition is nursing, human services and health care management. We applaud these highly accomplished and dedicated individuals.
