SJC Hosts Veterans Awareness Week

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. OCTOBER 28, 2013 In celebration of Veterans Day, St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will hold a series of events on its Long Island Campus from November 11-13 during the week of National Veterans Awareness Week.

The events for the week include:

Monday, November 11, 12:40 1:35 p.m.: Veterans Day Celebration to honor veterans at SJC and in the community

Tuesday, November 12, 12:40 1:35 p.m.: Student Veteran Panel to share stories and answer questions on deployment and military culture

Wednesday, November 13, 12:40 2:40 p.m.: Veterans Vision - an art talk by Art Therapist Gina Trezza and reception by veterans from the Northport Veterans Administration and the Long Island State Veterans Home

Wednesday, November 13, 10 a.m. 2 p.m.: Veterans Resource Day to receive information on local organizations that support veterans

"These events were planned to honor and assist the more than 85,000 troops that were welcomed home to the New York metropolitan area since October 2001, adding to the more than 950,000 veterans in New York State, said Shannon ONeill, assistant dean of SJCs Long Island Campus. "We have more than 100 military and veteran students on the Long Island Campus and we want them to know how much their service is appreciated, not only by SJC, but by others throughout Long Island and New York.
