SJC Honors Inductees at Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony

PATCHOGUE, NY – SEPTEMBER 25, 2009 – St. Joseph’s College is pleased to announce the celebration of its Second Annual Golden Eagle Athletic Hall of Fame Award Ceremony and Reception on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 6 p.m. Hosted by the Office of Alumni Relations and Department of Athletics, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the John A. Danzi Athletic Center located on the College’s Long Island Campus in Patchogue, NY.

“We are very happy to honor, in our second class of inductees, two teams that helped set the standard for all who would follow,” said Don Lizak, athletic director at St. Joseph’s College. “We are inducting three outstanding individuals who helped St. Joseph's College quickly establish itself as a very competitive program in the New York metropolitan area during the 80s and 90s.”

The celebrated class of honorees include former baseball MVP, Bernard “Bernie” Hoyt ’95; former two-sport athlete and record holder David Edwards ’94; and legendary soccer and softball coach, and mentor, Gary Smith.
