Second Annual Young Adult Authors Event Set for April 28

March 20, 2012

PATCHOGUE, NY MARCH 21, 2012 Suffolk County public libraries, in conjunction with St. Josephs College, will host an all-day event providing teenagers the opportunity to connect with their favorite young adult authors and celebrate their love of reading on Saturday, April 28. The second annual "Authors Unlimited will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the John A. Danzi Athletic Center on the Long Island Campus of St. Josephs College.

"Last years event was an exciting gathering for teen readers and writers, said S. Mary Ann Cashin, chair of the Department of Child Study at St. Josephs College. "It was clear how much they enjoyed hearing the stories and experiences that inspired the published works of each author, and the invited authors were impressed by the interest shown in their work and the thoughtful questions about writing, which the teens posed in the small group sessions.

Several of the award-winning and bestselling young adult authors scheduled to present dynamic workshops throughout the day include, but are not limited to: author and playwright Madeleine George; Adele Griffin, author of National Book Award finalists, Sons of Liberty and Where I Want to Be; illustrator J.K. Lee; award-winning journalist and sports and fiction writer Robert Lipsyte; and New York Times bestselling author of Hades: Lord of the Dead, George OConnor.

"We look forward to partnering with the Public Libraries of Suffolk County again this year as together we celebrate reading and enjoy the selection of high interest books that will be available and autographed, S. Mary Ann said.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration and book sales begin at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is available for purchase throughout the day in the Colleges cafeteria.
