LI Campus Minister to Give Guest Talk on “Faith In Action”

October 01, 2014

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – OCTOBER 1, 2014 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Long Island Campus Minister Patrick Tracy will be a guest speaker for the Diocese of Rockville Center’s Youth Adult Ministry program “Faith On Tap” on Monday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wantagh Inn in Wantagh, New York. He will give the talk, “Go to the Poor … and Put Your Faith into Action.”

At this event, Pat will share his “Faith in Action” service experiences from Agape Farm in Massachusetts, his work on Long Island and in Breezy Point following Superstorm Sandy and the aid relief work he did in Joplin, Missouri and Colorado after it was destroyed by a series of catastrophic tornadoes. He will also offer service opportunities for the young adult community.

“Community service is an integral part of the SJC mission—‘To be, not to seem,’” said Pat Tracy, director of campus ministry for SJC’s Long Island Campus. “For people of faith, community service is about putting their beliefs into action. I look forward to sharing my experiences about helping those in need around us and making it a more just world.”

Pat has served as the director of campus ministry at SJC since 2011. He received a master’s of divinity and a master’s in theology from St. John’s University, where he served as campus minister and adjunct professor of theology. During that time, he worked toward guiding the education on campus about social justice and coordinating community service programs. Prior to this, Pat served as a coordinator for youth ministry at St. Aidan’s Parish in Williston Park, New York, where he was credited with restarting its youth program by incorporating service days, youth retreats, sacramental preparation and special events.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Marianne Sheridan, director for youth, campus ministry and young adults, at 516.678.5800 ext. 615. The Wantagh Inn is located at 3264 Railroad Avenue in Wantagh, New York.
