PATCHOGUE, NY DECEMBER 6, 2011 The Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management at St. Josephs College (SJC) recently hosted Congressman Tim Bishop (D Southampton) at its Long Island Campus to discuss topics that are affecting college students.

Congressman Bishop addressed more than 70 students and faculty members from SJCs School of Professional and Graduate Studies on topics such as financial aid, student loans and workforce development.

"We are all focused on getting America working again, and St. Joseph's College is a leader in helping Long Islanders learn the skills to succeed in today's economy," said Congressman Bishop. "I was honored to share my thoughts on building a 21st century workforce with the smart and motivated students attending St. Joseph's Weekend College."

Congressman Bishop represents the First Congressional District from Smithtown to Montauk Point. Elected to Congress in 2002, he is a lifelong resident of Suffolk County and a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee.

"This was the first time that a member of Congress has given a lecture to students in SJCs Weekend College, said Elena A. Dundon, adjunct professor at SJC and faculty liaison for the Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management. "The feedback from students was wonderful. They were impressed with Congressman Bishop and found the information to be very valuable.
