Associate Dean Appointed to Suffolk County Youth Committee

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – AUGUST 24, 2015 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., associate dean, professor and chairperson for the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at SJC Long Island, has been appointed to the Suffolk County Workforce Development Board (WDB) Youth Standing Committee. Dr. Lamberta is also the coordinator of experiential learning for both SJC Long Island and SJC Brooklyn, and co-chair of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Authorized under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the Suffolk County WDB Youth Standing Committee provides information and assists with planning and operational issues as they relate to the establishment of services for Suffolk County youth.

“It is truly an honor to be appointed to the Workforce Development Board Youth Standing Committee,” said Dr. Lamberta. “Today's youth will be tomorrow's leaders, and it is important that we assist them in overcoming challenges and prepare them for a successful future.”

As a leader in her field, Dr. Lamberta serves as president of the Long Island Leisure Services Association. In 2014, she joined the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Strategic Planning Council and the advisory council for the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Regional STEM High School. She also sits on the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau (LICVB) and the Huntington Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
