The Office of Global Studies is happy to assist students to identify internships, service learning programs, and community service/volunteer programs that complement their interests, career goals, and level of skill.
Students may browse a wide range of opportunities by clicking on the websites below. The programs on the websites are independently run and are not sponsored by St. Joseph's University.
Students first must consult with the Office of Global Studies and then with their Department Chairperson before registering for any program that offers college credit from another institution. Students must get approval from their Department Chairperson prior to the start of the program in order for the credits to transfer to St. Joseph's University.
An internship is an unpaid, full or part time position at a company or organization. Internships can be short-term or long-term. Some internship programs provide college credit for your experience while others provide work experience.
Service learning is a philosophy, pedagogy, and model for community development that is used as an institutional strategy to meet learning goals and/or standards. A service learning program requires formal integration with a course, explicitly articulated learning objectives and consistency with an institutional mission.
Community Service/Volunteerism involves individuals or an organization contributing time, energy and resources to benefit a community or its institutions. It is not connected to a course and does not come with explicitly articulated learning objectives.
