Brooklyn Bears Hall of Fame Induction Guidelines

The Committee aims to induct a minimum of two individuals and/or teams at each ceremony.

Eligibility for Nomination

• Alumni are eligible five years after graduation.
• Teams are eligible five years after their recognized season.
• Former or retired coaches are eligible one year after leaving St. Joseph’s.
• Non-athletes/non-coaches who have made significant contributions to SJNY Brooklyn Athletics are also eligible.

Selection Criteria

Alumni:

• Exemplified the highest ideals of University athletics, sportsmanship and the spirit of St. Joseph’s motto: Esse non Videri – “To be, not to seem”
• Were bona fide students and outstanding athletes
• Made a significant impact on a team, and/or  the overall athletic program or demonstrated outstanding athletic ability with  significant accomplishments

Teams:

• Won a national, regional, or statistical championship                       
• Achieved an outstanding regular-season competition record

Coaches:

• Attained significant career accomplishments
• Contributed meaningfully to the development of student-athletes and the team
• Active coaches may be nominated if they have served 20+ years at the time of nomination

Other Individuals:

• Made an outstanding contribution that advanced and supported SJNY Brooklyn Athletics
