The Assistant for Student Involvement, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement is expected to provide leadership and support to student leaders, student activities, clubs, and registered student organizations, particularly in the areas of event planning &
execution, budget management, leadership development and policy compliance. This position will foster a campus community that educates and empowers a diverse student body through a variety of opportunities for dialogue, inquiry, service and growth. This is a Full Time 12 month position to include benefits.

Education

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree;
Experience Required: Minimum of 1-2 years experience working with college students in a diverse setting

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of issues surrounding underrepresented communities on campus;
  • Ability to communicate successfully and work collaboratively across departments and with various constituents, including external contacts;
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities;
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required

Primary Duties

  1. Provide strategic direction, support and guidance for student organizations and clubs with regards to all aspects of event planning and management.
  2. Assist with planning and coordinate programming efforts of the Office.
  3. Provides guidance to the SGA/CAB in planning a robust calendar of student activities.
  4. Assist with administrative responsibilities of the Office including but not limited to assisting with the University ID Card Program; maintaining Office Inventory; scheduling of room bookings, signups for off-campus trips and events, approval of postings, etc.; Update, assess and distribute a yearly student clubs and organization handbook.
  5. Serve as a vital team member of the Office of Student Involvement, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement; assist and support the Office’s programs and initiatives which include but are not limited to the following: Orientation; First Year Experience; Intercultural programming; Student Leadership Experience Program; SGA, CAB; Represent the Office at campus events.
  6. Maintain a social media presence and coordinate strategies for promotion; Manage and update the student activities and campus involvement web pages to include Engage.
  7. Serve as Advisor to Campus Clubs/Organizations; Attend and supervise student sponsored activities and meetings.
  8. Assist with budget process and financial documents, allocation of SGA funds; Process deposits, invoices, and RFD’s.
  9. Participate in key campus-wide programs as directed by the Executive Director.
  10. Provide direct services and programming aimed to increase retention, completion, satisfaction
  11. and overall well-being.
  12. Assess and evaluate implemented programs and activities.
  13. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by Executive/Assistant Director of Student Involvement, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement.

Secondary Duties

  • Participate in campus/department/committee meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with Brooklyn/Long Island campus to provide coordinated services to students.
