Bio

Michael Burke, Ph.D., is an associate professor of philosophy and director of the Brooklyn Campus Honors Program at St. Joseph’s University, New York. Dr. Burke has taught a wide range of courses at introductory and advanced levels in philosophy, including Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, Ancient and Modern Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, Philosophy and Film, and Philosophy of Horror.

Dr. Burke’s research interests focus on continental philosophy, ethics and horror. Currently, he is working on a book tentatively titled “Weird Phenomenology: H.P. Lovecraft and Modern Philosophy,” which explores the horror fiction of H.P. Lovecraft in connection with themes drawn from phenomenology and continental philosophy.

Dr. Burke earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Loyola University in Chicago; an M.A. in Philosophy from Boston College and a B.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University.
