Sulabh Katila is a firm believer in going the extra mile. Hailing from Nepal — less than 10 miles from the Himalayas — Sulabh set his sights on moving to New York City to pursue dreams of becoming an engineer.
Finding himself at the front steps of St. Joseph’s University, New York, he was determined to take advantage of the institution’s vast resources as well as the unlimited opportunities offered by living in New York City.
Over the last four years, Sulabh has done just that, serving as vice president of the Computer Club, working as a peer tutor for the University’s Academic Center and volunteering at a non-profit organization in Brooklyn, tutoring underrepresented children in mathematics.
During his time on campus, Sulabh also helped organize a computer science symposium, which brought together industry professionals to engage high school students with an interest in technology.
As a 2024 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) recipient, Sulabh presented his research on “Modeling and Evaluation of Property Price Trends in NYC: From Linear Regression to Neutral Networks” at the University’s Student Research Symposium.
For his hard work, Sulabh was presented with the University’s first-ever Joseph M. Lewinger ’00 “Mr. St. Joe’s” Scholarship for Future Educators during the 2024-2025 academic year.
During this year’s Commencement Ceremony, he will receive two degrees: one in computer science and the other in mathematics with a minor in data science, feeling prepared for the world that awaits him.
Eventually, he would like to become a professor with a goal of inspiring future generations in the same way those at St. Joseph’s have done for him.
“I see being valedictorian more as a responsibility more than an achievement. It’s a responsibility to speak from the perspective of every student, to not leave anyone out and make sure that everyone feels seen.”

Victoria Corcoran is a shining example of making every moment count. Since beginning her journey at St. Joseph’s University, New York, she has utilized every tool, resource and opportunity offered to forge a path forward for herself, one gleaming with success and untold potential.
From serving as captain of the Golden Eagles Women’s Tennis Team to being named president of BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ), all while maintaining her 4.0 GPA, Victoria has never shied away from a challenge or exceeding expectations.
Becoming immersed in student life, Victoria has also served as an orientation leader, a peer tutor in the University’s Academic Center and member of the English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta.
Graduating with a B.A. in English with minors in journalism, legal studies and political science, Victoria’s love of storytelling has been supported and nurtured by her fellow members of the SJNY community. That said, the story she is writing for herself is setting up to be truly special as she steps into a new chapter.
Her experiences at St. Joseph’s have taken her everywhere — from the University’s surrounding communities, participating in service projects as part of her role in BASIC, to Greece and the Mediterranean as a member of the Honor’s Program.
Victoria is a member of the Kappa Gamma Pi National Honor Society and was the Fall 2025 recipient of the Thomas J. Wendt ’88 Alumni Scholarship.
After graduation, Victoria plans to attend law school. By becoming an attorney, she hopes to apply all that she has learned, both inside and outside the classroom, to standing up for what’s right.
“St. Joseph’s has paired academic rigor and campus involvement to provide the perfect place to grow into an adult that is prepared to take on the next chapter of life.”
