The Chemistry and Physical Sciences Department at St. Joseph’s University, Brooklyn, NY, is seeking an adjunct instructor for the following course for the Spring 2027 semester (1/25/27 – 5/12/27):

Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of electricity, magnetism, and optics. Topics include electrostatics, electric currents, direct-current circuits, magnetism, magnetic induction, alternating-current circuits, and electromagnetism. The course also examines electromagnetic waves and the nature and propagation of light, including reflection, refraction, mirrors, lenses, optical instruments, interference, diffraction, and polarization. The course emphasizes developing conceptual understanding and applying physical principles to solve quantitative problems involving electrical, magnetic, and optical systems.

  • Lecture: Mon, Wed, 9:05 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Lab: Mon, 1:40 - 4:40 p.m.
  • Recitation for PHY 161 (General Physics II- Calculus Based):  Mon 4:40 - 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

A master’s degree in physics or a related field and experience in teaching higher education are required.
