The Director of Security has the primary responsibility for ensuring the safety of every member of the campus community and safeguarding the material assets of the University.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a 35 hour per week position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the security staff work collaboratively with all departments to provide a safe and secure environment.
  • Communicate effectively with University personnel.
  • Hire, train and direct all security personnel, both in-house and contracted who cover the University community twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Comply with local, state and federal crime reporting statistics including the Clery Act.
  • Work closely with the VP of Student Life and Campus Title IX Coordinators.
  • Coordinate with internal and external emergency response teams.
  • Supervise and monitor time (including overtime), vacation and leave of subordinates.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and his designee.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years supervisory experience in campus security and/or law enforcement.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software.
  • Knowledge of fire safety procedures.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or beyond is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
