St. Joseph’s University in Patchogue, NY, seeks applications for a non-tenure-track teaching instructor position in various accounting courses. Candidates must demonstrate effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with experience teaching on campus, virtually, and online. Candidates must also be open to teaching other courses as needed by the department.

A minimum of a master’s degree in business or accounting and a NYS Certified Public Accountancy license (CPA), as well as at least five years of professional experience in accounting, is required.'

Experience with online learning systems such as Canvas is also preferred.

Courses can include Fundamental and Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Cost/Managerial Accounting, Individual and Corporate Tax, and Audit.

Other Duties

Other duties in addition to teaching include:

  • Attending University and department events, which can include some weekends.
  • Attending departmental and University meetings.
  • Able to serve on university committees. 
  • Teaching and other on-campus presence, which may include at least three days a week.
  • Providing scheduling and academic advisement to students in the department. This is an important part of our efforts to assist our students. 
  • Remaining current in your respective field(s).
  • Holding office hours with students.
  • Being available for student consultations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair and/or Dean.

Candidates should also be enthusiastic about developing and delivering innovative coursework in the field and about inspiring students to achieve academic success. Salary range: $64,500-$66,500 (with a Ph.D. or Ed.D.).
