Bio

Paul Ginnetty, Ph.D., holds the rank of full professor in the Department of Psychology on the Long Island campus of St. Joseph’s University, New York. In addition, Dr. Ginnetty has been in private practice as a clinical psychologist for more than 30 years.

His prior professional experience includes having worked on the staff of an outpatient chemical dependency program and as a psychologist within the student mental health services at Stony Brook University. Dr. Ginnetty has also served as the director of an Office of Mental Health licensed clinic run by Catholic Charities in New York City.

Dr. Ginnetty earned a B.A. in English from Boston College; graduate degrees in both theology and divinity from St. John’s University; and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the City University of New York. He also earned post-doctoral certification in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy from the Derner Institute of Adelphi University.

Among Dr. Ginnetty’s areas of interest are historical and current trends in the practice of psychotherapy; adult and young adult development; the role of internship and service-learning experiences in education; the psychology of religion; and the intersection of religion and politics.
