Reports to: Christina Seifert, Director of Graduate and Professional Studies Admissions

Position Overview:

Responsible for the recruitment, outreach and enrollment of new adult Professional Studies students and provides support for undergraduate online as needed. The candidate will be required to perform duties at two locations, Great River and Patchogue. They must be well organized and able to multi task in order to have a smooth transition from one campus to another. Responsibilities will include keeping current on the continually evolving program changes by working closely with the directors of the individual programs. Meeting with prospective students and providing information on all programs. Advising and registering new students for their first semester.  Speak about possible careers they could pursue by acquiring the degree or certificate. This position requires attending information sessions, enrollment events and assist at all on and off campus events, including virtual events. Evening and weekend office coverage is also required. 

Position duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Counseling all new/prospective/inquiring, applicants and admitted Professional Studies students via in person, zoom, google hangout, text, email, and phone
  • Review undergraduate admission applications (both adult professional studies and online) in a timely manner, consistent with admissions polices
  • Support the SJC Online Undergraduate prospective, applicants and admitted students via in person, zoom, google hangout, text, email, and phone as needed
  • Advises and registers students for their first semester.
  • Primary liaison for building, developing, and recruiting at SJC corporate partnership locations.
  • Evaluate transcripts and review required admissions documents.
  • Determine transfer credits eligibility and course equates.
  • Prepares program analysis and worksheet for each student.
  • Conduct appropriate follow-up via phone, e-mail, and written correspondence with prospects to meet enrollment goals.  
  • Provide excellent customer service to all prospective students land-based and online.
  • Responsible for creating a communication plan to assigned students with follow up until they are enrolled utilizing the college’s CRM system (SLATE).
  • Host Information Sessions, Q & A sessions and Open House events for new and prospective students (virtually or on campus)
  • Create, review and edit all marketing pieces for the professional studies population
  • Liaison for over ten undergraduate Degree and Certificate Programs.
  • Provide support for the graduate admissions counselors when needed to help counsel master level students through the admission process
