Art History

The arts embody some of the highest aspirations of the human spirit. The St. Joseph's University, New York art department introduces students to the depth of this form of human expression. Art history and theory help students cultivate an understanding of the origins and practices of artists pertaining to geography, culture and time.

Art history courses span prehistoric through the modern era, and examine contemporary visual culture.  Studio courses include: graphic design, Web design, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography, sculpture, ceramics and crafts.

Art history minors are required to take 15 credits of art theory/history courses and 3 credits of studio art (9 must be above the 100 level).
